Outback Power
Grid-Interactive Sine Wave Inverters
Not Recommended For Use With AC
Generators
Grid-Interactive? What does THAT
mean?? Grid interactive is kind
of a hybrid system, battery based but
they also feed any excess power back to
the grid, and draw from the power grid
when the solar panels are not producing
enough. The advantages are that you have
backup power if the grid goes down, and
you can use standard 24 or 48 volt
battery systems and solar panels. The
downside is higher cost (for the
batteries), battery maintenance, and
slightly lower overall efficiency
(around 91%).
With the OutBack grid-interactive
system, backup AC power is made
available 24 hours a day in the event of
a utility outage, providing reliable
power and peace-of-mind. At night, the
inverter’s automatic power save mode
ensures that energy is not wasted by
needlessly charging your batteries from
the utility grid. An average conversion
efficiency of 91% using the California
Energy Commission (CEC) test protocol
provides greater savings and a shorter
time period for system payback.
OutBack’s grid-interactive technology
provides you more than a typical solar
inverter, and also have the ability to
utilize multiple charging sources such
as solar, wind and hydropower. The
specialized inverters, such as the
GTFX2524LA and others are special order,
